Promoter Alistair began DJing and promoting in Dubai in the mid 90’s organising
the first ever desert parties in the Middle East. On returning to the UK
and disillusioned by the tight knit club scene he devised a strategy to get
himself heard by taking control of his own DJ destiny and created a night he
could start from scratch and build around his own sound.
2004 witnessed the birth of Funky4Love at the infamous London club Turnmills.
It wasn’t long before Funky4Love’s notoriety gained them a well-respected
residency at super-club Pacha, turning the notoriously difficult Friday night
into the most talked about monthly event in London. Throughout 2006 & 2007
Funky4Love re-wrote the book for Friday nights, becoming the longest running
and most successful Friday residency at Pacha. Funky4Love has now proceeded
to host weekly events and monthly parties around the UK as well as internationally
in locations such as Hong Kong, New Zealand, China, Finland, Russia, Far East & Cyprus.
2008 sees funky4love setting new standards in club promotion with a new Saturday
residency at Pacha London along with UK and International tour dates including
the super club Pacha Sharm el Sheikh, funky4love is set to become a global superbrand.
DJ The culture of the ubiquitous DJ means it can sometimes be hard to sift the
wheat from the chaff. With DJS taking door deals to secure slots at their favorite
club or playing for free just to get a foot in the door, it is refreshing to
see a guy with a deeper respect for his own talent. By sticking to his guns and not
pimping his skills to every promoter in town, Alistair Albrecht acquired genuine
plaudits from within the industry and clubbers alike.
As the main resident for funky4love at Pacha London Alistair played alongside such
guests as: Wally Lopez, Erick E, Utah Saints, Chicane, Stonebridge, Beatfreakz,
Edddie Thoneick, Meck, the Soul Avengerz and in 2007 he joined forces with long
time funky4love resident Patrick Hagenaar to create the DJ partnership Hagenaar & Albrecht.
In 2008 Alistair has continued to establish himself as a world class DJs playing
UK and International venues from London to Hong Kong and topping a global calendar
of tour dates with a special 5hour Hagenaar & Albrecht set at Super Club Pacha
Sharm El Sheikh.
Producer Inbetween establishing funky4love as a worldwide clubbing brand Alistair thought
it was time to use his DJ experience and knowledge of the music scene to make house
records that would destroy dance floors he played too.
His first attempt’s are nothing but that, producing his first two tracks with good
friends Wayne O’Connell from the Soul Avengerz and Patrick Hagenaar, both partnerships
had instant sucesss with major labels.
‘Made In London’ was formed when Alistair started honing his studio skills producing
the first tracks with long time friend and respected house music producer and DJ Wayne O’Connell.
Their first track ‘Read My Lips’ ft Abigail Bailey was an instant hit with dance music majors
Gusto Records and they immediately signed the duo as recording artists, with a three track plus album deal
the duo are tipped for big things in 2008.
Not content with one major label Alistair went back into the studio with good friend Patrick Hagenaar,
Patrick had been invited by Alistair to play as a guest DJ at Funky4Love and became one of the key residents.
Soon after they decided it was time to join forces not just as DJs but also in the studio
and use their dj experience to produce. Their first track ‘What Would We Do’ is just that,
signed to the Shapeshifter’s label Nocturnal Groove, with massive support from all major djs
including Eric Morillo playing it throughout the Summer of 2007 at Pacha Ibiza, it was included on
the Ministry of Sounds Housexy CD House Warming, the track looks to be a massive 2008 summer anthem.
On promo release in May 2008 it went striaght to the No1 spot on Xpressbeats.com with a with full release in June 08
Both tracks are beginning released in Summer 2008 with new productions and remixes to follow.
Fine credentials for a lad still in the springtime of his career!
